<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension sensor high in detection precision and an electric parking brake excellent in response in braking or releasing. <P>SOLUTION: A tension sensor 20 comprises: a spring case 21 provided with a compression coil spring 22; a shaft 23 extending toward direction of the tension and relatively moving to the spring case 21 while deforming the compression coil spring 22 when receiving the tension; a magnet 25 and a Hall IC 27 as a direction detecting means for detecting the relative displacement between the spring case 21 and the shaft 23; the magnet case 24 fixed on the shaft 23; a cover 26 provided on the shaft 23 capable of moving to the axial direction of the shaft 23; and the compression spring 28 for biasing the cover 26 to the spring case 21. The magnet 25 and the Hall IC 27 are provided between the magnet case 24 and the cover 26.
