PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a chair comfortable by making the rear side of a backrest panel more flexible in such a way as to be developed outward around an opening. SOLUTION: A number of openings 27 are bored on the backrest panel 21 in such a way that the openings are arranged in the vertical and horizontal directions. The thickness of a connection piece 21b between upper and lower adjacent openings 27 is smaller than the thickness of a connection piece 21a continued in the vertical direction between left and right adjacent openings 27.
