Sliding door (1) has a link chain (6) which is acted upon with a traction force (F1) in the closing position of the sliding door in vehicle longitudinal direction. The sliding door is lengthwise adjustable from a first plane (I), which marks the closed position inside a lateral door cutout (3) of the vehicle body (4), to a parallel or approximately parallel second plane (II) and attached in a opening position.
