The waste collection bin (3) has a clamping ring (1) around its top opening to retain a waste bag (2). The bin has a vacuum pump to remove the air between the bin and the bag and cause the bag to assume the inner shape of the bin. The vacuum pump can be an external electrical or mechanical pump connected to an opening in the wall of the bin.
