PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield machine capable of efficiently excavating a hole of horse's hoop shaped cross section. SOLUTION: The shield machine for excavating the hole of horse's hoop shaped cross section comprises a rotary cutter 3 provided at a front part of a shield body 2 and driven to rotate around a shaft parallel with an excavating direction; support frames 10 provided at the front part of the shield body 2; and longitudinal shaft cutters 4 driven to rotate around shafts inclined with respect to the rotating shaft of the rotary cutter 3. In this case, the rotary cutter 3 is disposed almost at the center of the hole of horse's hoop shaped cross section, and the longitudinal shaft cutters 4 are arranged in unexcavated areas on both sides of the rotary cutter 3.
