The invention relates to a method for producing metallic components, particularly for turbomachines, having small edge radii, said method comprising the following steps: mechanical and/or electrochemical machining of the component and creating a small edge radius; solidifying the small edge radius by ultrasound shot peening. This avoids the disadvantages of the prior art and a mechanical, automatizable method is disclosed that permits a significant saving of time and personnel and leads to reproducible results. The invention also relates to a component produced thereby.
