PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that arrangement of three systems or more of column circuit groups is difficult from the standpoint of the layout and causes drawbacks though composition of three or more signals with different storage times is more preferable than composition of two signals with different storage times. SOLUTION: In order to make a dynamic range higher by synthesizing three or more signals with the different storage times, column circuits 13A, 14A provided by M circuits (M=2 in this embodiment) each per pixel column of a pixel array unit 11 are sequentially operated at a period of (2/3) H in average to sequentially capture and process signals output from three pixels of the pixel columns corresponding to three read rows A, B, C that are read sequentially by vertical scanning.
