The unit has a sensor unit for detecting and transmitting a physiological measuring value e.g. oxygen concentration. A sequence control is used in such a manner that the physiological measuring value is filtered before the indication of an inspection stage for verifying and modifying the measuring value using further measured or stored values. The sensor unit is separated from a device. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining oxygen content of human or animal tissue.
