<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set locking elements 24 to all slits formed at a locking element retaining member 26 and to easily insert the retaining member into a female member body 22 in a female member 12 comprising the female member body 22 and the locking element retaining member 26 inserted and set into the body and retaining the locking element 24. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of locking element retaining grooves (slits) 36 having clearances in the circumferential direction of the locking element retaining member 26 and extending from a front end to a rear side in the insertion direction of the locking element retaining member to the female member body are formed. The locking element retaining grooves receive the locking elements from the outer side in a radial direction and engage and retain the locking elements to both side wall surfaces 56 of the grooves.
