PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens system capable of appropriately displaying the operating direction of a focus operation member for setting the focus of a photographic lens to a focused state by reversing the display of the operating direction of the focus operating member. SOLUTION: The CPU 30 of a lens device 12 controls a focus lens FL according to the turning operation of the focus knob of a focus demand 14 in the case of MF control. In such a case, a focusing direction is detected from the contrast of a photographic image by using a focus evaluated value detection part 40, and the operating direction of the focus knob for setting the photographic lens to the focused state is displayed on an operating direction display unit 20. When a reverse mode is selected by the direction display changeover switch 82 of the focus demand 14, the display of the operating direction on the operating direction display unit 20 is reversed.
