PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a deterioration in output of an internal combustion engine through the improvement of intake efficiency by forming a filter element in a conical shape. SOLUTION: A cyclone type air cleaner 1 is provided with a substantially conical casing 2 in which a filter element 3 is arranged, with a suction inlet tube 4 connected to an peripheral wall 2a of the casing and with a suction outlet tube 5 connected to one end surface 2b side of the casing from an axial direction of the casing and formed so as to be bent at a substantially right angle immediately below the end surface 2b of the casing and extended in the radial direction of the casing, and takes air introduced in the casing 2 through the suction inlet tube 4 out of the suction outlet tube 5 through the medium of the filter element 3. In the filter element 3, the bottom 3a is located on one end surface 2b side of the casing and the top 3b is formed in a substantially conical shape located on the other end surface 2c side of the casing. By so doing, the intake efficiency of the filter element 3 can be improved to control the deterioration of output of an internal combustion engine. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
