PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out preferable image display with high resolution while reducing the number of source line driving circuits and suppressing the product cost in a memory type matrix display device. SOLUTION: The memory type matrix display device is equipped with a display panel having a memory type display element, source lines and gate lines provided on the display panel, a source line driving circuit to drive the source lines upon rewriting display, and a gate line driving circuit to drive the gate lines upon rewriting display. The display device has a plurality of display modes with different resolutions and has different frame numbers until the memory process in the whole display elements is completed depending on the display modes.
