PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light diffusion plate which has a good appearance, can maintain a fixed thickness of the light diffusion layer too and improves the front brightness and diffusion property, to provide a coating liquid for forming the light diffusion plate, and to provide a transmission type screen and a rear projection type projection television using the light diffusion plate. SOLUTION: The coating liquid for forming the light diffusion layer comprises a matrix-forming component, a light diffusion material and solvent, wherein the total solid content concentration of the coating liquid is 55% or more and viscosity of the coating liquid is 2,000 to 6,000 mPa s.
