BACKLIGHT UNIT AND DISPLAY EQUIPMENT HAVING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a backlight unit by reducing the number of light sources and reducing the size of a light guide plate.

SOLUTION: At least one cutout section 12a is provided between a side center section 12c of the light guide plate 12 and a corner section 12e in the backlight unit of a display, and a light source 13 comprising LEDs is arranged at the cutout section 12a. The light incidence surface of the light of a light source at the cutout section 12a is inclined toward an orthogonal line 12d passing through the corner section 12e, and the inclination angle is increased toward the corner section 12e. The shape of the cutout section 12a is formed to be in an L cutout shape or a cut-down shape of the corner section 12e.
