PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective member (head cap) for a head, which can be easily detached even from the head with a long nozzle array. SOLUTION: In the head cap with a liquid receiving part which is formed of a lattice rib so as to recover ink leaked from the head, curved guide parts are provided on the top parts of two side surfaces orthogonal to opposed surfaces forming hooks, respectively. When a turning motion for detaching the head cap is made, the head and the guide part are slid for the promotion of the movement of the head cap. Even if an excessive load is imposed, a liquid receiving part of the head cap and an ejection port surface are prevented from interfering with each other due to contact between the head and the guide part.
