PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for a surface-protective film having conformability to a substrate upon application, without increasing adhesion in an elevated temperature and high pressure process, and capable of releasing the film with leaving no adhesive on a substrate and to provide the surface-protective film. SOLUTION: This pressure sensitive adhesive composition for the surface-protective film comprises an acrylic resin (A) that is obtained by copolymerization of an alkyl (meth)acrylate (a1) with a carboxyl group-containing unsaturated monomer (a2), and a crosslinking agent (B) of≤0.5 mol based on 1 mol of the carboxyl group of the acrylic resin (A).
