PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a normal user who is not an expert to readily and accurately adjust a printing start position of a printer. SOLUTION: A cross gauge is formed on recording paper by trial printing. A displacement amount of a cross gauge 21 from a reference position on the recording paper is confirmed based on the position of the cross gauge actually printed on the recording paper. An operation of setting the displacement amount on display sections 18, 19 as a setting value is carried out by using an arrow icon (button) 13 on a screen 10 shown in the figure, so that even a normal user can readily and accurately adjust the position. While the cross gauge 21 is expediently displayed, it is not actually displayed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
