<p>The device comprises an upper gripping device (10) which is vertically movable under control of first driving means (M, CU) and is adapted to sustain an upside- down stem hanging vertically (19). A lower gripping device (33) coaxially arraged below said upper gripping device (10) sustains an upside-down cup (20) at its mouth. Heating means (138) locally heat the bottom of the cup (20) and a connection end of the stem (19). An annular heater (39) arranged between the two gripping devices locally melts the annular area of the cup. The relative approach of the upper gripping device and the lower gripping device to each other until the stem comes into contact with the cup, while the heating means (138) heat the bottom of the cup (20) and the lower end of the stem (19), causes the cup to be welded to the stem. After release of the lip of the cup by the lower gripping device, the annular heater causes an annular scrap of the cup to detach and to drop.</p> |
