<p>The method involves connecting a portable diagnosing unit (6) as a separate bus subscriber (T10) to a bus system (4) at a preset position, by a plug-in connection. A physical parameter and a logical parameter are monitored and analyzed using a protocol analyzing function of the diagnosing unit. A line failure, a short circuit of signal lines, failure of the bus system, and a faulty bus terminal resistor are determined based on the physical parameter. Data error, telegram error, and faulty inputs and outputs are determined based on the logical parameter. An independent claim is also included for a device for diagnosing a bus system.</p> |
