A control unit comprises a housing containing circuitry for generating a signal current suitable for use with a dressing for treating damaged tissue that incorporates a pair of electrodes (fig. 1). The control unit varies the frequency between 10 and 900 Hertz. The amplitude may also be varied between 50 and 500 micro amps.
