Reinforced polyamide molding compositions combining high stiffness with toughness have heat distortion temperature values HDT/A (1.8 MPa) over 242[deg]C and HDT/C (8 MPa) over 165[deg]C (to ISO 75); and comprise 20-60 (wt.)% a matrix blend of (A) polyamide 66 and (B) copolyamide of (b 1) 70-30% terephthalic acid and hexamethylene diamine (HMD) units and (b 2) 30-70% adipic acid and HMD units, both in about equimolar ratio, and 40-80% filler containing (C) glass fibers and (D) carbon fibers, with weight ratios (A)/(B) 50/50 to 95/5 and (C)/(D) 80/20 to 95/5. Reinforced polyamide molding compositions combining high stiffness with toughness have heat distortion temperature values HDT/A (1.8 MPa) over 242, preferably not less than 245[deg]C and HDT/C (8 MPa) over 165, especially over 190[deg]C (measured to ISO 75). They comprise a polyamide matrix containing a blend of (A) polyamide 66 and (B) copolyamide of (b 1) 70-30, especially 55-45 (wt.)% units derived from terephthalic acid (T) and hexamethylene diamine (HMD) (6) in approximately equimolar ratio and (b 2) 30-70 (45-55)% units derived from adipic acid and HMD in approximately equimolar ratio and a filler component containing (C) glass fibers and (D) carbon fibers, with totals of 20-60% (A) + (B) and 40-80% (C) + (D) and weight ratios (A)/(B) 50/50 to 95/5 and (C)/(D) 80/20 to 95/5. They may also contain (E) additives in amounts additional to the total of components (A-D). Independent claims are included for (1) 2 methods of producing the molding compositions; (2) production of moldings and/or hollow moldings from the compositions; (3) moldings made from the compositions.
|
