A compound which inhibits the production of IL-6 and/or TNF± by inflammatory cytokines and is useful in the prevention of or treatments for diseases such as various inflammatory diseases in which these cytokines participate and autoimmune diseases. It is a hydroxamic acid derivative represented by the following formula (1) : (1) (wherein A and B each represents phenyl, etc.; n is an integer of 1 to 8; and Y represents oxygen or sulfur). This compound has excellent interleukin-6 and/or TNF± production inhibitory activity and is useful as a therapeutic agent for various inflammatory diseases, autoimmune diseases, etc.
