<p>The method involves providing a sensor (13) for electromagnetic radiation for determination of a one-dimensional image of a text object (19), where the image has image points and the text object is located in a measuring area of a measuring device. A system parameter necessary for measurement of the text object is determined from the image and dimensions of the text object.
