The present invention relates to a device and method for the milking of dairy animals, comprising: individual identifying means attachable to each individual dairy animal; simple feeding station, provided with food dispensing means for dispensing fodder and sensing means for sensing said individual identifying means; combined feeding and milking stations, provided with food dispensing means for dispensing fodder, milking means for milking animals and sensing means for sensing said individual identifying means; and control means for controlling the simple feeding stations and combined feeding and milking stations, wherein the control means comprises: determining means for determining a time for the next milking of said individual animal; and output means for commanding said simple feeding stations to stop dispensing food to said individual animal if the actual time is after said time for the next milking of said animal.
