Described is a rapid-start electronic ballast for fluorescent lamps used in cold, freezing and preservation environments, which has a design useful to be installed in any refrigerating equipment such as walk-in coolers, freezers, preservation cases, etc. The ballast may be operated under low temperatures of up to 40 degrees below zero and at any standard voltage without changing electric cables, and may be connected to different types of lamps, thus being automatically and electronically adjusted to different-wattage lamps, and containing an electronic system for protecting the lamp against voltage peaks and transients, thereby avoiding destructive effects caused thereby. The invention also includes an airtight sealing system based on resins having silica sand and calcite for removing inner condensation which would otherwise damage the lamp components and, therefore, its performance. A temperature sensing system may automatically adjust the inner ballast conditions in a short period o f time.
