A power management method for a simple electronic exchange system having a plurality of extension telephones is described. When the exchange receives a power saving mode request signal from a given extension telephone, it transmits a request for a password to the telephone extension. When a password is received, the exchange determines whether the password received corresponds with a previously-recorded password for that extension telephone. If so, an operation limit command is transmitted to the said given extension telephone, and any incoming calls for the corresponding extension number are cut off until the power saving mode is released. |
