<p>A compound represented by the following general formula (I): (I) (A) {wherein R<SUP>1</SUP>, R<SUP>3</SUP>, R<SUP>6</SUP>, and R<SUP>8</SUP> each represents methyl, etc.; R<SUP>2</SUP> and R<SUP>7</SUP> each represents cyano, etc.; R<SUP>4</SUP> and R<SUP>5</SUP> each represents fluorine, etc.; and X represents a group represented by the formula (A) [wherein R<SUP>11</SUP> is monocarboxylated C<SUB>1-8</SUB> alkoxy, etc.; R<SUP>12</SUP>, R<SUP>14</SUP>, and R<SUP>15</SUP> each is hydrogen, etc.; and R<SUP>13</SUP> is hydroxy, etc.], provided that these substituents are present in such a combination that the compound represented by the formula (I) is substantially nonfluorescent before reaction with a peroxynitrite and the compound represented by the formula (I) becomes, through reaction with a peroxynitrite, a compound which has the group represented by the formula (A) in a nitrated form and is substantially highly fluorescent} or a salt of the compound. The compound and salt are useful as a fluorescent probe for peroxynitrite detection.</p> |
