A controllable inflation device for inflating and deflating inflatable compartments of a garment, comprising: one or more piston units comprising one or more pistons operable by an actuator and provided, each in a piston shaft, fluidically connected to one or more inflatable compartments of the garment for inflating and deflating the inflatable compartments; and a control unit for controlling the operation of the piston unit.
