ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITOR

Disclosed is an electric double layer capacitor comprising a case, an electrolyte solution filling the case, and an electrode foil immersed in the electrolyte solution. The electrode foil has a collector and an electrode layer covering the collector. The collector has a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The collector is provided with a plurality of openings penetrating therethrough from the first surface to the second surface. The collector has a projection which is arranged on the edge of at least one opening so as to protrude from the first surface and enter into the electrode layer. Since the contact area and the bonding strength between the electrode layer and the collector can be increased while making the collector thinner, high energy density and high power density can be obtained in this electric double layer capacitor.
