<p>A communications device for separating source signals provided by M signal sourcesincludes an antenna array comprising N elements for forming at least N antennabeams for receiving at least N different summations of the M source signals, withN and M being greater than 2. A controller is connected to the antenna array forselectively forming the at least N antenna beams. A blind signal separation processorforms a mixing matrix comprising up to the at least N different summations of theM source signals. The blind signal separation processor also determines if thedifferent summations of the M source signals are correlated or statisticallyindependent, and if not, then cooperates with the controller for forming differentbeams for receiving new different summations of the M source signals to replacethe different summations of the M source signals that are not correlated or statisticallyindependent in the mixing matrix. The desired source signals are separated fromthe mixing matrix by the blin d signal separation processor.</p> |
