The invention concerns an arrangement for internal black start of a subsea power system, where the subsea power system comprising a subsea main power distribution switchboard fed from a top-side main power supply, and at least one subsea auxiliary power distribution switchboard connected to the main power distribution switchboard through at least one step-down transformer. A switchgear control module may be connected to the main power distribution switchboard through said step down transformer, said switchgear control module being operative to control said subsea auxiliary power distribution switchboard, and wherein said switchgear control module comprising a communication system. Alternatively, a UPS may be connected to said main power distribution switchboard through said step-down transformer, said UPS being operative to control said subsea auxiliary power distribution switchboard.
