An electric steering-lock device having a column pipe; a steering shaft pivotally passed through in the column pipe; and a electric lock means having an electric motor and capable of switching, according to operation of the electric motor, between a lock state in which the steering shaft is prevented from rotating and an unlocked state in which the steering shaft is allowed to rotate. The electric lock means (15) is provided in the column pipe (13). The construction makes breaking of the electric lock means by unjustifiable means or unauthorized unlocking operation difficult.
