<p>The present invention relates to a subsea transformer system comprising a large transformer (1) contained in a vessel (2), the vessel (2) filled with an insulating medium (3), the system furthermore comprising at least one compensating unit (4), the compensating unit(s) (4) arranged to handle volume changes of the insulating medium (3) due to thermal expansion and contraction, the compensating unit(s) (4) being in fluid communication with the vessel (2) through piping (6). The system is characterized in that the piping (6) is configured to form an oil lock (7) between the vessel (2) and the at least one compensating unit (4), whereas the combined volume of the at least one compensating unit (4) and the piping (6) on the outside of the oil lock (7) as compared the vessel (2) corresponds to the volume difference of the insulating medium (3) in the main vessel (2) when the system is down and when the system is carrying full load.</p> |
