The invention relates to ionomer particles comprising an inner area and an outer area. Said particles are characterized in that the outer area is equipped with an oxide matrix with cations, the selection of which meets the following conditions: only two different types of cations can be provided that are part of one of the following groups (a) to (d); said two types of cations have to be selected among two different of the following groups (a) to (d): (a) ions of the elements of main group II and bivalent ions of the transition elements and lanthanides; (b) ions of the elements of main group III except boron, and trivalent ions of the transition elements and lanthanides; (c) ions of the elements of main group IV except carbon, and tetravalent ions of the transition elements and lanthanides; (d) ions of the elements of main group V, selected among ions of antimony and bismuth, as well as pentavalent ions of the transition elements. The invention further relates to methods for producing said ionomer particles, kits for producing medically or dentally useable cements containing the inventive ionomer particles and a separate curable polymer matrix, cements made therefrom, and uses of the ionomer particles and kits.
