A viewer device displays, in the slide show mode, still image data recorded in a recording medium on a display screen. The viewer device includes: a layout decision unit (3) for allocating a display region on the display screen for each of the display hierarchy folders positioned immediately below a target folder among the stratified folders in the recording medium; a slide show list generation unit (5) for selecting still image data belonging to the display hierarchy folder and the lower folder positioned below the display hierarchy folder as a slide show display object; and a slide show control unit (8) for executing slide show display of the selected still image data in the display region allocated for the display hierarchy folder positioned above each still image data.
