This invention reduces the amount of lead used in a display device and improves moisture resistance of the display device. A display device (51) comprises a panel (1b) provided with a hole (11), a glass ring (13) formed of a lead-free phosphate glass, and an exhaust pipe (12) covering the hole. The glass ring joins the inner face of the pipe to the outer face of the panel. The glass ring is located on the inner side of the pipe and thus is not attacked by moisture contained in the outside air.
