FIELD: water treatment. SUBSTANCE: water to be freed from hardness and iron ions is consecutively passed through first reactor with iron powder at pH 4-5, second reactor with aluminum cuts at pH 8-9, and settler with neutral medium. The two reactors are bubbled by compressed air. Aluminum cuts are preliminarily activated by 1-2% hydrochloric acid to open active sites on metal surface. Ten to twelve days latter, aluminum cuts are reactivated by hydrochloric acid to remove passive film formed on the metal surface during the water treatment.
