A DC motor circuit 40 is provided for a bi-directional motor in an automobile accessory such as power seating system. The circuit receives power on two 'biplolar' (reversible polarity) input lines 44 via a connector 26. The reversible polarity supply may come from an H-bridge circuit 41. The motor is connected to the reversible polarity lines 44. A bridge rectifier 46 is also connected to the input lines 44 and generates a 'unipolar' (fixed polarity) output. A transient voltage suppressor 48 is connected across the output of the bridge rectifier 46. A voltage regulator 52 generates a regulated DC voltage from the output of the bridge rectifier 46. The regulated DC is used to power a position encoder 32, which may be a Hall sensor. The output of the sensor is connected to a third terminal in connector 26. In contrast to prior systems, the connector 26 requires only three terminals. |
