A cuvette (16) for holding and locating an optical component in position is disclosed. The cuvette (16) comprises a bottom portion having a concave curved inner surface (31) which surface has a radius of curvature equal to or greater than the radius of curvature of the particular surface of the optical component which is intended to be closest to the cuvette's concave inner surface in use.
