An encapsulating layer for winding around a sheathed wire comprises a basic layer (1) formed as a strip and an adhesive band (2) with an adhesive surface formed only on one face, and in which the adhesive band (2) is adhered to the basic layer so that it juts out from one side edge-part of the basic layer (1). An independent claim is included for a cable bundle.
