The continuous press for the production of board materials, where the mat of chips/fibers (1) is compressed between two continuous steel belts (3) using pressure and heat, the upper and/or lower compression curve can be varied in a short zone (B) of 200-400 mm after setting the main compression profile in the wedge-shaped entry. The adjustment can be made at a point 100-500 mm after both steel belts have made contact with the material. In this zone, short stroke cylinders (12) move the rolling plates (11) toward or away from the board material across its width.
