The centrifugal brake assembly comprises an internally toothed transmission wheel(1) engaging with a base plate (4) through a transfer mechanism. Three to eight brake shoes (11)are mounted at equal angles on the base plate and springs are provided to act between each shoe and base plate so that the shoes move centrifugally outwards against the springs. The transmission ratio of the transmission device is between 1:3 and 1:10. A friction wheel (7) mounted coaxial with the transmission wheel has a protruding rim on one side and forms a ring with inner friction surface (10) which is brought into engagement with the outside of the brake shoes.
