A mixing type homogenizer comprises a mixer ring located axially displaceable during rotation of paddle blades (7, 10) for displacement from a first position. A mixing type homogenizer comprises a closed tank (1) with a bottom and a stationary and preferably replaceable circular perforated mixer ring located at the bottom tank. The perforation of the ring being flow holes shaped as holes and/or slots. The wall of the ring is located at a distance from the tank wall and a rotational shaft extending into the tank. The rotational shaft is concentrical with the perforated mixer ring and has a part for fixing of a rotor having a hub (6) to carry an inducer provided with paddle blades and the hub may also carry a cover plate (8) with a diameter slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the perforated mixer ring so that the cover plate edge is located radially within the perforated mixer ring. The cover plate has circumferentially spaced openings and a circumferentially spaced openings and radially outward directed by the shaft rotatable paddle blades secured to its lower side. The paddle blades are provided with a clearance to the perforated mixer ring wall and to the bottom of the tank. The mixer ring is a stationary relative to the rotor with the hub is located axially displaceable during the rotation of the paddle blades for displacement from a first position in which a first mixer ring section with a first set of flow holes is located radially opposite to the paddle blades of the hub to at least one other position in which another mixer ring section with another set of flow holes shaped as holes and/or slots or at most part of a mixer ring section is located radially opposite to the paddle blades of the rotor.
