Digital filter with stable filter state during invalid signal regions in a digital filter cascade

A digital signal processing system such as that used in a spectrum analyser uses a digital filter cascade. This has a filter [Fdez] with a high bandwidth and filters [Fm,Fiir] having a lower bandwidth. The input to the cascade has sampled signals having valid and invalid signal sections that are signalled by the filter.
