Shell mold comprises heat insulating plates (10) connected at their upper and lower edges by bars (12, 14) which enclose the edges of the plates with U-shaped holders (18). The plates directly form the walls of the mold. The mold is able to withstand the pressure of concrete being poured into the hollow chamber of the mold without requiring support. Preferred Features: The bars are made from sheet metal. The holders are formed by angular parts welded to the bars.
