The instrument (1) has a proximal retention region (2) with a flange area (6). The flange area is provided at the inner walls of cardiac auricles in the expanded condition of the instrument. The area forms a form-fit connection with the inner walls of the auricle, so that the implanted and expanded instrument is retained in the auricle. A distal retention region (3) seals the opening of the auricle. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an occlusion instrument.
