Centre lathe tool height setting device

The device comprises a v-block 10 and a spirit level 12, the spirit level being set into the upper surface of the v-block. The lower half of the front face of the v-block is recessed in order to provide a horizontal overhang 14 corresponding to the point of the v-shape. In use the Tool Height Finder is held firmly against the side of a round section bar 21, the bar being secured in the lathe's chucking device, not shown. With the overhang 14 resting lightly upon the tool tip 31 the tool is adjusted up or down in the usual way until the spirit level indicates a level status. The height of the cutting tool tip now matches the lathe's spindle centre.
