Disclosed is a coffin made from a blank of corrugated cardboard, in which the boundaries of the lateral parts and front parts (2, 3; 4, 5) of the coffin that are hinged to a bottom (1) via folding lines (B1, B2, B3, B4) are joined together via one respective gusset (F1, F2, F3, F4). The gussets (F1, F2, F3, F4) are penetrated by a folding line (BD) extending from the joint vertex (E) of the bottom (1) and the gusset (F1, F2, F3, F4) to an outer vertex (E') of the gusset (F1, F2, F3, F4). According to the invention, each gusset (F1, F2, F3, F4) is penetrated by another folding line (B') such that the front sides of the coffin are formed in part by the gussets (F1, F2, F3, F4) and in part by the front parts (4, 5), the lateral parts (2, 3) and the front parts (4, 5) forming the shape of a truncated pyramid. The blank can easily be folded and can thus be accommodated in a relatively small base area. Additionally, brackets can be mounted on the lateral parts (2, 3) and the front parts (4, 5) such that large top edges are created, thus increasing rigidity and creating a good optical effect. The inventive coffin can be used without a lining if the inner face of the corrugated cardboard is damp-proof.
|
