The antenna selection method uses evaluation of at least one received bit field, for selecting and activating the reception antenna element (2a,2b) providing the best reception quality for reception of transmitted data. A number of successive bit fields are transmitted to the reception antenna elements before the transmission of the data, each bit field associated with a respective antenna element, with bit synchronisation for reception of the following data effected in dependence on the selected antenna element.
