<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new mutant endonuclease V exhibiting no nonspecific nucleic acid cleaving activity and having specific activity. <P>SOLUTION: The new mutant endonuclease V exhibiting no nonspecific nucleic acid cleaving activity and having specific activity is provided. A gene encoding the mutant endonuclease V, a recombinant DNA containing the gene, a transformant or transductant containing the recombinant DNA, and a method for producing the mutant endonuclease V are also provided, respectively.
